Local Business Volunteers

Local Business Volunteers Provide Support to the White Center Community Prudential's Global Volunteer Day celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2004 with over 32,000 volunteers participating on community projects in 17 countries. As part of this great program, Don Harshbarger of the Admiral Way Prudential Realty organized over 50 volunteers from his office to help fight hunger in our community. On October 2, 2004 the Admiral Prudential team held food drives at the Roxbury Safeway, the White Center Albertson's and West Seattle's Metropolitan Market. The White Center Food Bank received 1,995 pounds of food to help hungry families during the upcoming winter months, when household budgets tend to be stretched to meet the higher costs of utility usage. The Prudential team didn't stop there. Prior to the event, they advertised to their Realtors and the community to raise awareness of the need. They brought the food bank $758.00 from funds raised and an additional grant for $1,000.00 from their corporate headquarters.
